From Curiosity to Community Leadership: How Gozel Muradova Empowers Emerging Builders
Gozel Muradova is driven by curiosity rather than certainty, but what truly anchors her is an enduring passion for problem solving. Rather than seeking immediate certainty or quick wins, she finds herself energized by the process of confronting complex, ambiguous challenges and methodically unraveling them. “What kept me in technology wasn't immediate success - it was the process of solving problems that initially felt impossible, and slowly learning how to break them into smaller, manageable pieces.” That foundational drive to tackle hard problems naturally expanded over time, shaping Gozel into a dedicated leader across two areas in the hacker community: building technical projects and organizing community initiatives.
At events like AI ATL 24 and HackGT 12, Gozel found an environment built around rapid prototyping and cross-disciplinary teamwork. This immersive experience completely redefined her approach to learning. Gozel explains, “Before, I saw learning as something individual and academic. After entering hackathons and tech communities, I began to see it as collaborative and creative.”
At HackGT 12, her team built HR Audit, an AI agent system focused on real-time fraud detection and voice-based banking access for people without smartphones. "Working on an AI-powered financial and fraud detection system taught me how to integrate multiple technologies under pressure - from APIs to AI models - while also learning how to communicate technical ideas clearly to judges." The project won the Capital One Best Financial Hack track.
Outside of hackathons, Gozel founded a Girls Who Code College Loop at Jacksonville State University where she focuses on organizing community events. Reflecting on her dual role as both an engineer and an advocate, Gozel emphasizes, “What makes my story stand out is that I exist at the intersection of technical building and community leadership. I am not only focused on what I can build, but on who I can bring with me into the space." Her campus leadership also includes previously serving as Treasurer of the International Student Organization. Demonstrating her commitment to empowering women in STEM, she was also selected as a WEAmplify Scholar to attend WECode 2026, a national conference focused on supporting women in technology.
Advancing both as a software builder and an ecosystem leader, Gozel's journey stands as a powerful reminder of how far curiosity can take you, proving that "growth in tech is not linear; it comes from repeated exposure to challenge and community support."
